Larry has created a novel place for himself in the world of the theatre as a playwright, director and live event producer. Larry is the co-author and director of the interactive giant, Tony N’ Tina’s Wedding, having directed over thirty productions of the show in an array of cities including New York City, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Bermuda, Tokyo, San Juan, Toronto and virtually on Zoom. His other plays include Sheila’s Class Reunion, Aunt Chooch’s Birthday, (off Broadway) Leo and Lili’s Luau, Fantasy Party (off Broadway) and Blessing In Disguise (off Broadway).
Dialogue with actors and technical staff has afforded Larry circles of friends that intermingle via social media and real life on a daily basis. His theatrical family is vast and loving and his determination that actors learn as much about life as they do about the theatre is a shiny prize he keeps in his heart every day of his life. His lifelong dream of working with thousands of actors and developing theatrical families around the world has been realized. Creating Tony N’ Tina’s Wedding with Artificial Intelligence and Nancy Cassaro in 1987 developed his taste for site specific interactive theatre that has grown into a world-wide genre.
His dedication to bringing non-theatre goers into live experiences, whatever the theme, is magical and unusual. Written word is important to him but guiding actors and audience to communicate through their own words and actions has been a passion for forty years. Larry has also worked with the great Kenny Rogers on a Christmas special for Hallmark. He oversaw the development of a luau in Maui that ran for six seasons. This luau, Huaka’i, starred Kaniala Masoe (Hoku Nominee) and Melody Masoe, both top cultural experts from Hawaii. In the summer of 2022, Pellegrini’s newest project, Mele Luau opened in Kapolei on the island of Oahu. This is the first luau that is a love story and incorporates the travels of Tamatoa, a prized canoer, as he searches for the love of his life.
Currently he leads the creative agenda for Paradise Activity Company and works with resorts and their activity departments in twenty two locations in the US. Virtual Arts is his newest project and Mr. Pellegrini works with a gifted team including Christy Benanti and Gret Menzies.
